Peer Blog Post Review

BLOG POST: https://teacherpriya.opened.ca/2026/08/11/week-5-wait-was-that-ai/

Priya, this blog post has such clear readability in each section. You started off by painting a bleak picture, suggesting that AI might be the beginning of the end. Maybe you are playing on that phrase, or perhaps, as you express throughout your writing, AI can sometimes feel like a bit of a downer.

I’m glad you agree with the Prime Minister’s plan to educate so many Canadians. You highlight the importance of evaluating the credibility of information online before accepting it as the truth. Perhaps the critical thinking you value is exactly what we all need when evaluating the media we are exposed to every day. In addition, could we find more ways to use AI creatively and inovatively to improve the future for humans on our planet? Maintaining our stewardship of the environment in Canada and around the world is critical, and we can all hope that AI is used to help make better and more effective decisions than we have made in the past.

Canada is taking action now, as you have shown in the middle of this post. You included great quotes from the Prime Minister that demonstrate the intention to protect Canadians and use AI in ways that reflect our values. As you point out, policies and curricula need to stay up to date with the rapid advances in AI. Each year, it will become harder to distinguish what is real from what is fake online. The better critical thinkers and evaluators we become, the closer we will get to understanding the truth.

The Canadian government, as well as technology companies and third-party organisations, must continue to move alongside developments in AI. Our information needs to remain safe, private, and trustworthy. This requires stricter rules and policies, along with real consequences for those who abuse these technologies. I do also agree that children, and anyone else who may be vulnerable to manipulation, misinformation, or deception, need to be safeguarded at all costs. It will soon become all of our responsibility to call out those who take advantage of others so that people who break the law can be held accountable.

In the end, imagine if AI, comes together with the needs of our country, could create even safer and more enjoyable experiences for everyone. AI tools might lead us toward more progressive and intelligent integration into our daily lives. Technology companies and our government will need to ensure that these advanced tools are accessible, secure, and used responsibly.

I wonder if we can all do our part as future teachers to ensure that AI does not become a means to an end. Instead, AI could be a pathway toward a more prosperous and better life for future generations. We will find a balance, work together, and continue to learn and grow as we move forward in this rapidly changing time.

Thank you for this blog post ideas and views that helped me to review my thoughts and hopes with greater clarity and purpose for my future.
